Llanboidy WI

-

LLANBOIDY WI’s first meeting in 2019 was on January 10 in the chapel vestry. The guest speaker was Charlotte Jackson.

She explained why she had changed from being a regular meat eater to becoming a vegan. It was very interesting to hear how the change had happened gradually so that small changes could be made over a period of time.

Members asked whether it is difficult to obtain ingredients and Charlotte assured them that they were available locally, including in large supermarkets – you just need to look for them.

Charlotte brought several samples of foods she had cooked using only vegan ingredients and members enjoyed tasting them. Favourite was the chocolate brownie – of course!

Charlotte judged the competition for ‘something new from something old’ which was won by Val, for her waste paper bin made with baler twine.

The raffle was won by Anna and tea and biscuits were provided and served by Denise and Beth.

During the business meeting the county newsletter was briefly discussed, the quiz questions answered and members decided which resolution they would like to go forward for campaigning.

Val gave an update on the tree project and final arrangements were made for the annual lunch at the Lamb Inn on January 24.

Most members paid the annual membership fee. The February meeting will be on the 14th when Cathy Davies will talk about mindfulness and relaxation.
