FERA STRETCH LEAD AT SUMMIT

THE title charge continues for Ystalyfera as they made it 12 wins out of 13 in One West Central after returning from Skewen with a 30-15 bonuspoint victory.

Luc Caines, Josh Jarrett and Paul Davies added to a penalty try to deliver maximum points for Fera, while Gareth James kicked the rest of the points.

They are now 13 points clear of Bonymaen at the top, who themselves beat lowly Aberavon Quins 15-0 at Harlequin Road. They also have a game in hand on Ystalyfera.

Glynneath, 15 points off the summit with two games in hand, were not in action and that allowed Kenfig Hill to move up into third after they defeated Maesteg Celtic 26-13.

Celtic will now dust themselves down for a big clash on Saturday at bottom side Waunarlwyd­d, whose match with Brynaman last weekend was postponed due to the wet weather.

Ammanford have now won two away league games on the bounce after their 29-19 triumph at Tondu.

In Two West Central, Lee Harris crossed twice for leaders Birchgrove as they won 34-10 at Pencoed. Lewis Cox, Chris Weightman and Josh Key got their other tries, with three conversion­s and a penalty coming from the boot of Mathew Edwards.

Second-placed Resolven lost ground on the leaders after going down 28-26 at home to Nantyffyll­on.

Ross Boast bagged a brace of tries alongside scores from Iwan Irranca and Connor Griffiths in a bonuspoint win for the visitors, with Cameron Jones adding the extras.

Birchgrove are now on 61 points from 15 matches, with Resolven and Nantyffyll­on on 49 and 44 respective­ly.

Three penalties from Liam Harris steered Ystradgynl­ais to a 9-6 win over Porthcawl at South Road, while there were victories for Seven Sisters, 19-14 over Nantymoel, and a third win in four games for Morriston, 2117 against Taibach.

Bottom side Cwmavon went down 37-0 at Builth Wells.

Three West Central A leaders Abercrave warmed up for their clash with Aberavon Green Stars with a narrow 15-13 win at Tonmawr.

Vardre were once again in freescorin­g form, running in eight tries in a 53-15 home success over Bryncoch, while Pyle won 42-12 at Cwmgors.

Chris Walker helped himself to four tries as Bridgend Sports dismantled Neath Athletic 83-0.

Andy Gill, Alun Evans and Lloyd Roderick scored twice each, with Gethin Cross, Rhys Obbard and Josh Davies also dotting down. Josh Davies and Callum Griffiths shared duties from the tee.

Captain Tom Edmunds and his brother James Edmunds both crossed twice for Swansea Uplands in a 56-0 home defeat of Glais.

Dexter Ryde, Gareth Andrew, Alex Withers and Dan Stephens added a try each, with the rest of the points coming from the boot of Tom Osbourne.

Ryan Compton grabbed a hat-trick to inspire Three West Central B leaders Baglan to a 61-23 win at Crynant. Dan Blethyn also scored twice.

Baglan are five points clear of Bryncethin, who defeated basement boys Briton Ferry 36-7. Cwmllynfel­l, who enjoyed a 29-21 success at Glyncorrwg, are a point further back with two games in hand.

There were also victories for Banwen, Pontrhydyf­en and Cefn Cribwr.

Three West Central C leaders Penygroes were 17-8 home winners against Ogmore Vale, while nearest challenger­s Furnace United, who are 12 points behind with two games in hand, kept up the pressure with a 43-7 win over Tonna.

Cwmtwrch, Pontardawe and Cwmgwrach also celebrated victories.
