SPORT TON UP AS CARL LEADS THE WAY

MIDTABLE Trimsaran A earned one of their best wins of the season in the Llanelli Snooker League with a 7-0 thumping of Upper Tumble Blues. The undoubted highlight was a cracking 107 clearance from Carl Thomas.

Lewis Lloyd (27), Mike Lloyd (30), Kieran Proctor, Lee Holland and Mark Footman completed the rout.

Leaders Matchroom Reds were 5-2 winners against New Lodge thanks to John Pellew, Frank Ellis, Craig Price and Andrew Rosser. Darren Williams and Rob Penn replied.

Pontyberem Workmen’s claimed a 5-2 win at struggling Reading Room Reds courtesy of Craig Rees, Emyr Bowen, Alun Harris and Karl Goble. Adrian Gower and Kieran Leaf struck for the Burry Porters.

Bottom side Tycroes RFC A, whose winners were Keith Jones, Tim Lewis and Robert King, were edged out 4-3 by Morfa, for whom Jamie Tudor, Gavin Lewis and Rob Hughes won.

Gorseinon Workmen’s went down 5-2 at Pontarddul­ais Workmen’s A, for whom Dean Marston, Matt Jones, Adam Griffiths and Steve Davies were on the ball, while Rob Davies provided Burry Port Legion’s only point in a 6-1 loss to Llandybie Social A, whose winners were Roy Morgan, Tim Walters, Lyndsey Pugh, Peter Howatson and Huw Morgan.

Gavin Quinnell made a fine 50 break as his side Llanelli Cons A were notable 4-3 winners against Matchroom Whites. Keith Moore and Hefin Jones added wins, while Chris Davies, Dai Roberts and Tom Twigg won for the Mighty Gwyns.

Snooker World defeated Reading Room Blues 5-2 thanks to Anthony Krysa, Andrew Whitfield, John Meadows and Sam Hinton. James Ellis and Craig Jones replied.

Division two leaders Cross Hands B were 5-2 winners at CGMD, Alex Gruffudd Owen, A Year 7 pupil at Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Bro Myrddin and a member of Bronwydd Cricket Club, was named under-11 Player of the Year for the second consecutiv­e season by Cricket Wales at a ceremony held at the home of Glamorgan Cricket at Sophia Gardens. His season’s highlights included an unbeaten 123 against Somerset, a century against a touring under-13 South African team and a season’s total of more than 1,000 runs for Wales, together with the honour of captaining his country. He is now a member of and trains twice a week with the Glamorgan Junior Academy. Dickie, Adrian Phillips, Mal Jones and Mark Davies all in winning form. Mike Dance and Ray Evans won for the Fishermen’s.

Elsewhere, wins from Paul Doughton, Hugh Williams, Jimmy Hughes and Brian Davies gave Pontarddul­ais Cons a 5-2 victory at Llandybie Social B, whose winning duo were Peter Watkins and Steve Pearson.

Joe Phillips prevented a whitewash as Llanelli Cons B crashed 6-1 at Calsonic Rivals. Brian Edwards, Phil McGibney, Nathan Brain, Aaron Cruickshan­k and Luke Powell all won for the home side.

Similarly, just E. Rees won as lowly Great Mountain, Tumble, went down 6-1 at Cross Hands A, whose framewinne­rs were Eric Stevens, Richard Griffiths, Gerry Keaney, J. Howells and A. Gibson.

Lee Burder, Leighton Cole, George Langford and Roy Morgan gave New Lodge B a 5-2 success over Llanesco, Peter Shoulder and Shaun Caton replying. Llandybie RFC were convincing 6-1 winners against Pontarddul­ais Workmen’s B thanks to Richard Davies, Dylan Jones, Rhodri Treharne, Liam McGhee and Sion Isaac. Peter Hopkins was the Bont side’s only frame-winner. THE newly-formed Cwmamman United Under-14 girls’ team entertaine­d Calsonic at Grenig Park and came out 6-2 winners.

In a game of great commitment and skill, Cwm ended on top thanks to goals from Cadance (2), Tegan, Alisha and Celyn (2).
