Players’ reunion Llandybie RFC will he holding a past and present players’ reunion on Friday, the evening of the opening Six Nations match between France and Wales, kick-off 8pm. Come and meet up with old friends and former players.

Bereavemen­t Deepest condolence­s are expressed to the family of a former Llandybie lady, Linda Stonehouse (nee Watkins), whose husband, Michael Stonehouse, formerly from Garnant, son of the late Garnet and Celia Stonehouse, and brother of Pamela and the late Philip, has sadly passed away, aged 75. Following their marriage, Linda and Michael have resided in North Cornelly, Porthcawl, for the past 45 years or so.

Well done To Ammanford Lions Club and their volunteers who undertook a litter pick on January 21 along the River Amman and managed to fill 13 bags full of litter (the majority being plastic, by the way). Their next litter pick day will be on Monday, February 25, at 9.30am, volunteers very welcome; let them know also if you have an area that needs tackling. New members Ammanford Pensioners’ Group at their first gathering of 2019 have welcomed two new members into the fold, namely Pat Elias and Lynfa Evans. Members were entertaine­d by members of a local folk group.

Find a bargain The Growing Together Group will be holding a sale of various items at their monthly meeting on Thursday, February 7, from 10am at the Pensioners’ Hall, Ammanford. Entry is £1 for non-members, which includes a cuppa and a biscuit. Come along for a chat and find a bargain, and find out more about the group.

Ty Dyffryn Will be having a talk by the British Red Cross on February 5 at 2.30pm, with free tea/coffee available with a cake.

80th birthday Capel Hendre OAP branch have congratula­ted one of their members, Anne, who has just celebrated her 80th birthday.

Church service Ty Dyffryn, Ammanford, will be holding a church service on Sunday with Pastor Gareth Cheedy at 3pm. On Monday there will be a drop-in service by the Family Housing Support Team in the lounge at 1.30pm. The Goldies Cymru singalong will then be held on Tuesday at 10am at Ty Dyffryn. Meanwhile ,a drop-in service by Family Housing Support takes place on the first Monday of the month, and a Goldies Cymru singalong on the first Tuesday each month, all welcome.

Bye bye, Liz Ammanford Town Silver Band is saying goodbye to their principal cornet player Elisabeth Rogers, who has had the opportunit­y to play for a Championsh­ip band – Llwydcoed Band. Liz has been hardworkin­g, committed and a big part of Ammanford Band since it re-formed in 2012 and was their youngest ever principal player. Good luck for the future, Liz.

Bereavemen­t Local gent Neville Rees has sadly passed away, peacefully, on January 14 at his home at Bro Ryan, Glanaman. Neville was the father of Gail, father-in-law of Gary, cherished grandfathe­r of David and James, a dear brother of Marion, Gareth, Mair and the late Berian and Beryl. The funeral was on January 29 at Morriston Crematoriu­m. Bereavemen­t A former Garnant man, Michael Stonehouse, has sadly passed away, at the age of 75. Born and bred in the Cwm, Michael, the son of the late Garnet and Celia Stonehouse, and brother of Pamela (Folland Road) and the late Philip, married a Llandybie girl, Linda Watkins, and the couple have lived in North Cornelly for the past 45 years. Funeral The funeral of the late John Lyons, of Oakfield Road, Twyn, Garnant, who sadly passed away recently, aged 78, will be on Monday at Llanelli Crematoriu­m at 2pm.
