Gymnasts end year on a high

-

CARMARTHENSHIRE School of Gymnastics rounded off a very successful 2018 in numerous competitions throughout Britain by being crowned the Welsh tumbling team champions in Cardiff in December.

The Cross Hands-based club’s junior tumbling gymnastics team range in ages from 6 to 16 and members have knuckled down under the watchful eye of tumbling head coach Shelley Pace since her arrival at the beginning of last year.

The gymnasts have been inspired by her new training programme and her faith in all the gymnasts, and the tumbling coaching team of Paul, Cilan and Jess work well under her guidance.

The attitude is very positive, especially following the outstanding results of Jade Evans, Jenson Ball, both aged 14, and Ayla Farnworth, 13, in the British Championships.

Jade, who travels to the club from Pencoed, Bridgend, performed exceptionally well last year and was selected for the GB tumbling team and competed in her first ever international competition, the Loule Tumbling Cup in Loule, Portugal.

Following her performance in the 2018 British tumbling final championship she was selected to represent the British tumbling team in the World Age Group Championships in St Petersburg, Russia, in November where she won a world silver medal.

Jade was recently presented with a from Welsh Gymnastics in recognition outstanding achievements.

Under the club’s new regime the haul of medals has increased dramatically, earning the CSoG junior tumbling gymnastics team the honour of holding overall first place in the 2018 Welsh Tumbling League against gymnasts competing from all over Wales.

During a busy 2018, Carmarthenshire club gymnasts won 17 gold, 21 silver and 16 bronze individual Welsh medals, 44 gold, 40 silver and nine bronze Welsh team medals, one bronze individual British medal and one silver world individual medal ( Jade Evans). trophy of her
