LEADERS CRASH TO WORKMEN’S

THE top two met in the Llanelli Snooker League first division, and it was second-placed Pontyberem Workmen’s who took the honours with a fine 5-2 win at leaders Matchroom Reds after frame wins by Kieran Evans, Karl Goble, Kevin Selwood and Emyr Bowen. Phil Williams (55 break) and Paul Thomas (37) replied for the Reds.

Elsewhere, in-form Llandybie Social are now third after a 5-2 win at Trimsaran, where Huw Morgan, Wyn Major, Lindsey Pugh and Tim Walters were on the ball. Lewis Lloyd and Mark Foreman were on top for Trim.

John Meadows, Sam Hinton and Andrew Whitfield gave Snooker World the aggregate count by just three points in a 4-3 victory over Matchroom Whites, who replied via Ashley Edwards, Chris Davies and Neil Davies.

Andrew Hatto provided Morfa’s only point in a 6-1 drubbing at Reading Room Reds. Phil Payne, Adrian Gower, Steve Gower, Tony Redmond and Kieran Leaf all won for the Burry Port men.

Hefyn Jones and Mike Moore were Llanelli Cons As’ winning duo in a 5-2 reversal at New Lodge A, for whom Adrian Dix, Mike Wood, Jamie Donald (31) and Darren Williams (49) all won.

Reading Room Blues earned a 4-3 local derby win at Burry Port Legion thanks to Chris Howells (29), Steve Greaney, James Ellis and Craig Jones. James plied.

The top two also met in division two, and Cross Hands B stretched their lead at the top with a 5-2 win at Ponthenri Social thanks to Alex Dickie, Dai Isaac, Jeff Jones and Mark Davies (35). Alun James and Jeff Howells won for the home side.

Brian Jenn grabbed his first win for Llandybie Social B, and Karl Evans and Howard Wood added wins in a 4-3 victory over Bryn. Chris Scott, Steve Holmes and Dale Evans replied.

Despite wins from Sion Isaac and Richard Davies, Llandybie RFC lost 5-2 to Tycroes RFC B, for whom Marc Walters, Sean Davies, Robert King and Raymond Davies won.

M. Haberstraw prevented a whitewash as Pontarddul­ais Cons B crashed 6-1 at Cross Hands A. Eric Stevens (28), Tristran Gooding (30), R. Thomas, Jeff Howells and Howell Pritchard struck for Cross Hands.
