One-star ratings leave room for improvement

RESTAURANTS may have been forced to close their doors amid the coronavirus pandemic, but a large number are still offering takeaways instead.

When you’re choosing what to order, you will want to be sure the place that’s cooking it has good food hygiene standards.

We’ve compiled a list of the places in Carmarthenshire with a food hygiene rating of one.

The hygiene scores are published on the Food Standards Agency website, and may be subject to change.

Carmarthenshire confirmed that the scores are correct.

■ How hygienically the food is handled - that is, how it is prepared, cooked, re-heated, cooled and stored;

■ The condition of the building - cleanliness, layout, ventilation and other facilities; and

■ How the business manages and records what it does to make sure food is safe.

If it’s given a one rating, means major improvement necessary.

The only rating that’s lower is a zero, which means urgent improvement is necessary.
