Driver pulled over for “abnormal load”

-

AN allegedly disqualified driver was stopped by police after trying to fit a large container in the boot.

Officers from DyfedPowys Police were carrying out coronavirusrelated patrols in Llandovery when they spotted the “abnormal load” squeezed into the back of the car.

The large plastic container was wedged on top of a wooden pallet and strapped to the vehicle.

The force’s roads policing unit in Carmarthenshire made the unusual discovery in Cilycwm Road in the town.

After stopping the driver, officers found he was disqualified from driving and also had no insurance.

A tweet from the roads policing unit read: “Llandovery – what do you think stood out about this vehicle to us?”

In recent weeks officers from Dyfed-Powys Police have stopped multiple vehicles travelling throughout the force’s area despite lockdown measures still urging people in Wales to stay local.

Earlier this month four vehicles were stopped and escorted out of Pembrokeshire after the occupants had travelled from the Midlands to “visit the beaches”.

Two people from east London were also caught travelling near St Clears during the early hours and admitted that they were heading for St Brides Bay.
