Pub and rugby clubhouse hit with fines
A PUB and a rugby clubhouse in west Wales have been hit with £1,000 fines after they stayed open after hours in breach of the latest coronavirus regulations.

Betws and Betws RFC, both just outside Ammanford, were found to have stayed open after 10.20pm, something which was prohibited under hospitality restrictions outlined by the Welsh Government.
The operators at both venues have been handed a £1,000 fine each after being visited by licensing officers from Carmarthenshire Council.
Meanwhile, the council has also closed three pubs in the county where they found there to be “significant shortfalls in measures to ensure the safety of their customers”.
Around 200 pubs, bars and clubs have been visited by council officers in Carmarthenshire during the past fortnight alone, who have been checking on each business operator’s ability to comply and to offer advice on how best to adhere to the rules.
“This is an exceptionally difficult time for our hospitality industry, in particular in light of the new regulations that came into force on Friday,” said Philip Hughes, executive board member for public protection and enforcement at Carmarthenshire Council.
