-

AFC Ammanford’s return did not go as planned.

They crashed out of the Nathaniel MG Cup at the first-round stage as they were beaten 6-0 by Trefelin BGC.

It was a major statement of intent by Trefelin, who are newly promoted to JD Cymru South this term.

Damon Thomas scored a hat-trick to action for the Port Talbot side, Ryan Griffiths bagged a double and Jamie Latham rounded off the scoring.

Meanwhile, Cardiff City marked their return to the competition with a 2-0 victory over Taffs Well.

Kieron Evans’s first-half strike gave the Bluebirds the lead, before Isaac Davies won a penalty and hammered the ball into the top corner to seal the win in the 79th minute.

Newport County had to postpone their tie against Undy Athletic after an academy player tested positive for Covid-19. The match has been rescheduled for a later date.

Risca United secured an impressive 5-2 victory at home to Afan Lido. Tom Berry netted a hat-trick for the Cuckoos, with Lewis Hitchcock and an own goal from Morgan Thomas adding gloss to the scoreline. Captain Cai Owens and Ioan Clatworthy were on target for Lido.

Lee Kendall won his first game as the new manager of Cambrian & Clydach Vale. They scored a late equaliser to send their game with Port Talbot Town to penalties, before winning the shootout 4-2.
