Free festive feasts on offer to those in need

TWO top Carmarthenshire chefs have teamed up with a Carmarthen business to give free Christmas dinners to those in need.

The Nurture Centre – which offers a range of courses and groups such as baby yoga, hypnobirthing, massage and social events – has joined forces with Deri Reed at The Warren restaurant in Carmarthen and Alex Cook from Pink Peppercorn Food Co in Llandeilo to serve up a slap-up festive feast for those who are in need.

Christine Davies-lamble at the Nurture Centre, who is also chair of Carmarthen Chamber of Trade and Commerce, said: “The dinners are for anyone who needs them this Christmas, whether they are financially struggling, NHS workers, single parents, whatever the reason they may need help.

“People can book to receive a completely precooked, two-course dinner, which can just be popped into the oven. Our focus is on reducing stress and financial issues for people over Christmas. It’s been a rubbish year and here at the Nurture Centre we are determined to end on a high.

“So we have teamed with award-winning chefs Alex and Deri to create a truly special two-course, restaurant-grade Christmas dinner people can have at home.

“The best thing? It’s free! We are, though, also asking anyone who is able to help us fund this important appeal to make a donation on the Nurture Centre website.

“Just £4 will help us to serve one person and we want to help 150 people this Christmas Day and people’s support is very much needed to make this a reality.”

She added those taking advantage of the free dinners could make a donation towards a meal if they felt able to: “Anyone registering for a meal maybe would like to make a donation for anything they can afford. Their donation will help us provide for another person on Christmas Day.”

Deri, at The Warren in Mansel Street, who will be making the desserts, said: “It’s been a tough year for so many people, many people haven’t been able to go out, so I would like to provide them with free dessert.”

While Alex, at Llandeilo’s Pink Peppercorn Food Co, added: “If people are stressed, lonely or anxious this Christmas, we want to take some of that away.”

Whatever the need is, for anyone wishing to take up this offer all, they need to do is:

■ Choose from the menu for up to six people

■ Collect from Nurture Centre in John Street, Carmarthen, between 10am and 6pm on Christmas Eve

■ Pop the food in the oven for about 25 minutes on Christmas Day

Enjoy award-winning food and have a relaxed Christmas.
