Donors thanked for helping appeal

-

BOSSES at the Food Hub in Llandeilo are saying a huge thank you to everyone who has donated to their appeal in the run-up to Christmas.

Final deliveries have been made and the hub will now close until the new year.

Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic the hub has been providing free food parcels for people in need within Llandeilo and the surrounding areas.

It will restart in the new year and has seen the entire community pull together to help those in need at this time.

Donations have come from the public, shops and businesses from across the area, including Llandeilo Round Table which last month donated an entire truck load of food from Castell Howell Foods.

Morrisons supermarket in Carmarthen has also dished out supplies to the hub.

Among the latest donations was from Llandeilo Brownies.

Club leader Alice Sharp dropped off a donation of 24 bags of groceries that had been collected as part of the Brownies’ Children in Need effort.

Llandeilo Food Hub volunteer co-ordinator Christoph Fischer said: “The Llandeilo Food Hub is shut over Christmas between December 18 and January 3.

“Fear not, the families have been well supplied before the volunteers go on their well-deserved break.”

In the run-up to the closing, people were asked to donate only non-perishable food so nothing risks being wasted.

The Donations Drive Through at Llandeilo RFC, Cae William, is also closed over Christmas and will reopen again on Saturday, January 2 between 2pm and 4pm.
