Bird flu case reported in county
BIRD flu has been reported in Carmarthenshire as a high alert warning has been issued across the UK.
The Department of Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) has said a case has been reported this month in a little grebe, a type of water bird, in Carmarthenshire.
Nearly 150 cases have been reported across the UK since the beginning of November, prompting advice to the general public and bird owners.
Anyone who sees a dead bird is asked not to touch it – and if you see a dead or visibly sick bird, particularly swans, geese, ducks, gulls or birds of prey, they should be reported to Defra through 03459 335577.
