Historic milestone marked by school
A CARMARTHENSHIRE primary school has marked an important milestone with a week of celebrations.
Llanllwni Primary School was determined to do all it could despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Teacher Charlotte Evans said: “At the beginning of the week of November 30, to start the celebration and to learn about the history of the school, we had a question and answer session with Canon Eileen Davies, who is also the vicar of our parish.
“In addition, during the week we looked and studied old photographs of the school and we looked at pictures of the building, staff and pupils.
“We all enjoyed looking at the pictures and it was interesting to see what has changed and what has remained the same.
“The oldest picture we found was a photograph taken in 1895. With the pictures, we have created an exhibition that captures the history and life of the school.”
The middle of the week saw the school plant 150 daffodil bulbs, along with creating birthday cards and a timeline of the school listing former head teachers and staff.
Ms Evans added: “To end the celebrations we had a party and the presentation of a cake cut by headmaster Gareth Jones, with the school’s oldest and youngest pupils.
“After school on the Friday a service of light was held on the school yard, led by Canon Davies.”
