Plans for three new homes

-

THREE new detached homes could be built in Johnstown, Carmarthen. Plans have been lodged for the four-bedroom homes on a 0.5-hectare parcel of land which is part of Penybont Farm off Millbank Road near its junction with Old St Clears Road.

If approved, the homes would have a shared access driveway. Carmarthen Town Council has no objections to the plans, which sit within the Pontgarreg and St Davids Conservation Area.

The application has been lodged with Carmarthenshire Council by planning agents Evans

Banks Planning Limited on behalf of the applicants Mr and Mrs Andreu.

A design and access report into the plans by the planning agents states that the “proposals meet the objectives of preserving the character and setting of the Pontgarreg and St Davids Conservation

Area, together with the underlying policies of the Carmarthenshire Local Development Plan (LDP).”

It adds: “More importantly, the proposals seek to illustrate that the character and setting is not compromised as a result of the introduction of new dwelling houses into part of the undeveloped field enclosure.”

The report adds: “Consequently, the addition of three detached properties will not appear prominent in the enclosed semi-rural environment.”

The plans will be discussed by Carmarthenshire Council planning committee shortly.
