Council is on the hunt for barista supervisor at park
IF you’re not full of beans at your current job and know a thing or two about coffee, Carmarthenshire Council might have the ideal position for you.
It is looking for a barista supervisor at Pembrey Country Park, whose refurbished Yr Orsaf restaurant is run by the authority. Managing six baristas, the successful candidate will also look at ways of increasing income through events and parties.
The supervisor will earn between £20,092 and £23,080, and conversational Welsh is required, although support to reach this level can be provided.
The country park – 500 acres of woodland and miles of beach – has a dry ski slope, play areas and trails, but the car park is currently only open for visitors with specific health or mobility issues to drive in for exercise.
Pembrey councillor Hugh Shepardson said the restaurant was doing really well before the more recent coronavirus restrictions came into force in Wales.
“It’s a magnificent attraction for the park,” he said.
Meanwhile, if outdoor work is your thing, Swansea Council has a vacancy for a gardener and an apprentice gardener.
The gardening role in the waste, parks and cleansing department involves plenty of mowing, plus planting, litter duties and marking sports pitches. The salary is £20,092 to £20,903.

In Carmarthenshire, a salary of £56,579 to £65,561 comes with a head teacher post at Ysgol Rhydaman in Ammanford, an occupational therapist is needed in Llanelli, and a project development officer is required to help deliver a multi- million- pound regeneration of Llanelli’s Tyisha ward.
Carmarthen Town Council is on the hunt for a part-time deputy town clerk and finance officer, while Llangunnor Community Council needs a new clerk.
Swansea Council is urgently recruiting carers to help look after elderly and vulnerable residents, while two high-level positions need filling in its Covid test, trace and protect team.
If you have business skills and some experience of inward investment, Swansea Council needs two economic development officers to provide business support in the city and build relationships with local suppliers and potential investors. The wage is £33,782 to £37,890 on a temporary contract until December 31, initially.
