ADOBE FLASH REACHES THE END

LIKE no smoking in pubs and paying actual money to watch TV, the internet without Flash would have been unthinkable not so very long ago.

But that’s where we got to when 2020 ticked over into 2021 – Adobe’s support for the interactive animation and video web browser plug-in ended.

The writing was on the wall for Flash many years ago when Apple refused to support it in its mobile Safari browser because it used too much power, draining phone batteries quickly, and was bedeviled by myriad security flaws.

Since then other more secure power-efficient technologies have been developed to do the same thing, and so Flash has withered on the vine.

It’s still out there, like a ghost refusing to pass over, but there will be no more security updates from Adobe and those still using it to power their websites will very quickly need to move on.

SAMSUNG TO UNPACK THE S21

SAVE the date – Samsung has announced a special event for January 14, at which it will most certainly reveal the next generation of its flagship Galaxy S smartphones.

According to rumours we’ll get the full details on the S21, S21 Plus, and the S21 Ultra at the event, which has the tagline “Welcome to the Everyday Epic”.

As meaningless as that may be, we can expect nothing less than an improvement in all areas for the new phones, especially in the camera modules.

Also rumoured to make a debut is a new locationtracker tag that you can attach to items like your luggage and track its movements on your phone, and new Galaxy Buds Pro wireless earbuds.
