Bereavemen­t Deepest sympathy is expressed to all the family,following the passing away of Margaret Iris Williams, formerly of Cwmamman Road, Glanaman. Iris died peacefully at Newton Court Care Home, Langland, Swansea, just before Christmas on December 18. Iris, the widow of the late Desmond, was also a cherished sister of Vida, and was a much-loved aunt. The funeral was on January 14. A private service at the Christadel­phian Hall, Ammanford, was followed by interment at Ammanford Town Cemetery.

Cwmamman OAP Branch wishes to thank all those responsibl­e for the very kind parcels received by our members from volunteers just before Christmas, which included some wonderful handmade Christmas cards and messages. They were greatly appreciate­d by us all; diolch o galon. Gareth and Lorraine Lewis wish all Cwmamman Old Age branch members and friends blwyddyn newydd dda and a healthy new year, hoping the branch will be able to meet up in person as soon as is safely possible; in the meantime, stay safe. Bereavemen­t Ellis Davies (Ellis the Butcher as he was familiarly known), of Glanyrafon, Glanaman, sadly passed away just before Christmas. Ellis, who was in his sixties, will be sadly missed by his family and friends. The funeral is on Tuesday, January 26, at Llanelli Crematoriu­m.

Garnant Golf Club has asked that, due to the fact that during this latest current lockdown period they have seen a rise in the number of walkers and dog walkers around the course, that owners please keep their charges on leads, try to stick to the footpaths, and clean up after their dogs. Thank you.

Depression support The local Shadows Depression Support Group is there for you if you are struggling at the moment in these difficult times with anxiety or depression; you can still access Shadows in other ways, ie via their website, or on Facebook and Twitter. Online language and play is available for babies and toddlers,with stories and singing, plus lots of play ideas, and a chance to chat with other families. Meals on Wheels Particular­ly due to the new current lockdown period, any OAPS, families or individual­s who formerly received Meals on Wheels, and may be unable to get about who would possibly need meals delivered over the next months, please get in touch, so that nobody goes without through the next few difficult months. Contact councillor Kevin Madge on 825438 if you require help or other details. The cost is £5.50 per meal. Residents in Garnant, Glanaman, GCG, Tai’rgwaith, Brynaman and Cwmgors will be able to carry on using this important service through the winter.
