Minor injuries unit at care centre has now reopened

-

THE minor injuries unit (MIU) at the Cardigan Integrated Care Centre reopened to patients on Monday.

The unit was temporarily closed in December as staff redeployed in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

It will now Mondays to between 9am 4.30pm.

People are reminded not to attend the MIU if they have any coronavirus symptoms, have been asked to self-isolate, or be open Fridays and are awaiting test result.

Anyone needing to visit the unit should do so alone where possible, wearing a suitable face covering and keeping to the 2m social distancing rules at all times.

Peter Skitt, county director for Ceredigion at Hywel Dda University Health Board, said: “We’re delighted to be able to return Cardigan MIU to full service and wish to thank the local community for their patience and co-operation a

Covid-19 during its recent temporary closure.”

Despite the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, people are being urged to still seek medical advice and treatment and go to any regular appointments they have for their health.

The health board said earlier this month that to avoid going along to any scheduled medical appointment or going to a GP surgery for health concerns could end up piling more pressure on the NHS locally.
