IT’S cute, it’s chic, it’s coastal and it’s full of character – some people might say this cottage for sale can offer a new owner everything a cottage should, making it a rare and beautiful property proposition.

Called Gothic Villa, this home is more a pretty cottage daydream than a dark and brooding building hiding in the depths of woodland.

It could be argued it’s the perfect coastal dream home cottage.

The first thing to notice before you even step into the whitewashed stone home is its location.

On the coastline of the River Towy estuary where it meets the sea, the views over the expanse of sparkling water to Llansteffan on the opposite shoreline are mesmerising.

This Carmarthenshire cottage near Ferryside dating back to the 1850s has a long garden at the front that can be used as a base for watching the natural world go by as the house has no neighbours in front of it.

However, the current owners have been wise to move one of the reception rooms to the first floor to gain the maximum access to the panoramic views of the water, coastline, skyline and the sandy beach that appears at low tide.

The charming porch invites you in once you’ve walked through the garden arch, up the garden path and through the classic cottage garden.

There are statement cottage furniture pieces to be found throughout the home, including the impressive dresser in the dining room, the Aga in the kitchen, wrought-iron beds and the roll-top slipper bath in the bathroom.

Walk down the central hall and on the right is the sitting room. This charming, bright space is awash with pretty country decor.

The kitchen is connected to the dining room via a sizeable arch and in here no-one can deny the space is a classic country kitchen.

At the rear of the property is one of the three bedrooms and a bonus bathroom.

On the ground floor the property also offers private parking and a garage plus a surprise at the back, but more of that later.

If a dedicated office space away from the temptations of a squishy sofa is needed by a new

owner, then there are three bedrooms in the cottage.

One of these bedrooms is at the rear of the first floor that, if not needed or only used as an occasional guest room, could be an ideal space for working.

The master bedroom at the front of the home is a perfect place to showcase calm, soft shades, tactile classic fabrics and statement traditional furniture, and this example does not disappoint.

Finally, the main bathroom is an elegant space, with the slipper bath, toilet cistern, fixtures, fittings

and lighting all bringing a traditional and timeless feel to the room.

Outside, accessed via the ground-floor courtyard, there is an intriguing flight of stairs.

These lead to an impressive elevated deck area that is the final and arguably the best place to totally and completely immerse yourself in the special views this special cottage can offer you.

Gothic Villa is on the market for a guide price of £390,000 with Savills. Call their Cardiff branch on 029 2036 8900 to find out more.
