DEE’S IN A CLASS OF HER OWN
AWARD-WINNING actress Janie Dee is to star in new digital production of Terence Rattigan’s one-woman show All On Her Own.
The play began life as a BBC2 piece that was broadcast in 1968 and tells the story of Rosemary who, alone at midnight in London, has a secret burden to share that is both heartbreaking and sinister.
The production will be available to stream for eight performances from February 16 via stream. theatre and allonherown.com
MONDAY NIGHT AT THE APOLLO
NEW dates have been announced for livestreamed West End concert series Monday Night At The Apollo featuring stage favourites like Waitress star Lucie Jones, below, Doctor Who’s Arthur Darvil, Wicked performer
Kerry Ellis and
Jesus Christ Superstar’s Declan Bennett.
The shows will be performed before socially distanced audiences at the
Apollo Theatre in London from April 12 and simultaneously livestreamed. Ten percent of proceeds will be donated to Acting for Others, an organisation made up of 14 individual theatrical charities. SOMETHING TO SING ABOUT
THE BBC is celebrating musicals with a series of programmes featuring hit songs and performances.
BBC Radio 2 will host three days of programming about musicals, while further shows will be broadcast on BBC1, BBC4 and iplayer from January 29.
Radio 2 presenter and West End star Elaine Paige said: “To be unable to perform or go to the theatre was devastating to us all. Radio 2 Celebrates Musicals is a way for us all to come together, to be uplifted and sing out loud to the best show tunes.”
The series will end on January 31 with a show hosted by Sheridan Smith from the London Palladium.
