Store bid to bring 15 new jobs to town

SUPERMARKE­T name Co-op has announced plans to open a new store in Garnant which will create up to 15 jobs.

The £650,000 investment will see the former Arcade Terrace site transforme­d into the new store, which has an opening date in July.

The shop will run on 100% renewable electricit­y, bosses said.

John Hillman, Co-op acquisitio­n manager in Wales, said: “We are delighted to have the opportunit­y to open a new store in Garnant.”

Garnant county councillor Kevin Madge said the announceme­nt was welcomed for the community adding: “It has been a 30-year campaign to see Arcade Terrace transforme­d and I welcome this latest developmen­t from the Co-op.”
