lesleywms@tiscali.co.uk Meddygfa’r Tymbl In a Covid-19 vaccine update, the surgery reports that it has successfully vaccinated a large number of residents and staff at local care homes. Another delivery of vaccines was expected and the admin team would be contacting the priority 1 (patients who are 80 and over) at the beginning of the week. A ‘drive-through’ clinic at Cross Hands Health Centre was planned for Saturday. Patients are asked not to phone for vaccination information but to wait to be contacted. www.phw.nhs.wales/ covid-19-vaccination. You can refer to the website and Facebook page where information about developments will be placed. Patients are asked to enquire about other health issues by telephone. A doctor or other health professional will still be there to advise you, either over the phone or, if needed, in person. You can also use an online consultation service; you complete a series of questions online and a doctor will review these. You may be advised to contact the surgery or the surgery may contact you by email, text or telephone. https://tumbleandcrosswales. webgp.com/ Prescription requests should be placed in the letterbox of Meddygfa’r Tymbl or in the box at Cross Hands Surgery.

More vaccination news Hywel Dda University Health Board has announced that letters, inviting Carmarthenshire residents aged 75 to 79 years to receive their first Covid vaccine at a mass vaccination centre, will be sent in the next few days. The nearest centres to Tumble are in Carmarthen at the Halliwell Conference Centre, University of Wales Trinity Saint David and in Llanelli at Ffwrnes Theatre. On its website, the board says that people should not go to any vaccination venue without an appointment and not contact GPS, pharmacy or health board to ask when you will be invited. It also says that it is working to offer a vaccine to everyone in priority groups 1 to 4 by mid-february. People over 70 years of age and those clinically extremely vulnerable (priority group 4) will be invited next to receive a vaccine.

Vet’s surgery Emerald Vets will be running an emergency service only for the time being, as a number of staff members have contracted Covid 19. The surgery reports it is prohibited from continuing with daily consultations and surgical procedures but will be dispensing medication on an order service only. Please ring prior to order and you will be given a time to collect. On its Facebook page, the surgery apologises for any inconvenience and says it will reopen as soon as possible.

Another scam! Beware of a new Covid-19 NHS vaccine scam, warns Dyfed-powys Police Economic Crime Team. DC Gareth Jordan from the Cyber Crime Unit says that in the latest scam, you may receive an email telling you that you are on the Covid vaccination list and you need to select whether you want the injection or not. Either choice will take you to a site requesting personal / financial data such as bank account details, card numbers, driving licence ID, on the pretext that the site is checking their validity. The site is doing exactly the opposite; it is taking these details so they can be used for more direct ‘spear phishing’ or for ID theft and financial fraud. DC Gareth Jordan asks you to think carefully before parting with your money or information and to reject, refuse or ignore any requests as only criminals will try to rush or panic you. Contact your bank immediately if you think you’ve fallen victim to a scam and report it to the police. Report suspicious emails to: report@phishing.gov.uk You can also report suspicious texts by forwarding the original message to 7726, which spells SPAM on your keypad. The police, or your bank, will never ask you to withdraw money or transfer it to a different account. They will also never ask you to reveal your full banking password or PIN. Do not click on links or attachments in unexpected or suspicious texts or emails. Confirm requests are genuine by using a known number or email address to contact organisations directly. Report to Dyfed-powys Police: https://www.dyfed-powys.police.uk/en/ contact-us/report-an-incident/ or call 101.
