Tough experience has helped prepare me, believes John
THERE’S not many players who have endured such rough luck as Willgriff John.
The Sale Sharks prop, headed for the Scarlets next season, was named in the starting line-up for Wales’s 2020 Six Nations clash with Scotland, on the brink of earning his first cap.
But with the game called off because of the worsening coronavirus situation, John (circled, right) has not been named in a Wales squad since.
He insists the tough experience has better prepared him for another opportunity. He told the Scrum V podcast: “Although it was very tough to go through, it’s helped me to be more ready for the next chance, physically and mentally. “I understand what the environment is like and I’ll be ready for it.
“It was a massive eye-opener to see how tough international rugby is, even the training let alone the games.
“I’m massively desperate to get back in camp and to get another shot to put the red jersey on.”
