Graveyard damage; refuse collection overhaul; Lotto winners build bird boxes

-

HEADSTONES were vandalised and ripped out of the ground at St Lleian’s Church’s graveyard in Gorslas. Here are some of your thoughts . . .

KAZ TIGGS PHILLIPS

Why do people go out to break and ruin things for the sake of it, what fun is it to hurt families, what fun is it to smash windows on old buildings? I really don’t get what these thugs get out of it. Hope the cops got fingerprints off the stones, and the culprits made to pay for all the damage, clean all the mess, and clean every single grave stone in Carmarthenshire. What’s the betting we’ll hear more of this in other local areas, seems the sun comes out and the thugs have more crimes to do! Maybe churches should put up 24/7 CCTV hopefully to stop it.

JUDITH JAMES Sad people. No respect. EILEEN JAMES Disgusting, how can they do this to something that is sacred.

WENDY YATES Oh my Lord, what is wrong with people? How would they feel if someone did this to their loved one?

SHEILA JONES How sick.

THE way rubbish is collected from the kerbside in the county could be in for a major overhaul. You said . . . BRYSTECOCH No problem...just reduce your council tax! TERRYTIPTOES Tidy, mun, we’re just coming out of a pandemic and now we’re going to have rotting food in the streets. Good thinking, Batman. BUZZARD23 Smell and vermin spring to mind - we don’t even have wheelie bins in Carmarthen! OCHWYTHIG Guessing I’m going to be the only person in Carmarthenshire who already has a few bins for recycling. It’s easy enough to do (although some days I do have trouble telling the difference between plastic and card... no, wait. Thats a lie. It is EASY to do). Plastic in one bin. Card in another. Makes life easier for our council. Council tax cash saved can be spent on other things... like picking up all the masks people throw on the floor. ANDY SPOKES There we go then, more fly-tipping which will result in higher council tax bills because the council certainly won’t pay for the clean-up.

JULIAN HENRY OWEN Yeah, probably. But people will fly-tip regardless of how many bins you can put out.

A LOTTERY-WINNING couple from Porthyrhyd spent the winter lockdown building nest boxes to house some of Wales’s woodland bird population. You said . . .

DAVID WRIGHT Strange, isn’t it? People complain that news is negative and sensationalised, but when positive news is reported, everything goes quiet. Let’s have more positive news. Well done, Davina and Jeff. ROBIN GERARD Brilliant... a lesson to us all.

AGNES ILES Well done, they look good.

EILEEN JAMES Good to hear there’s some kind people about.
