Man caught trying to get ‘girls’ to perform sex acts

- ROBERT DALLING Reporter rob.dalling@walesonline.co.uk

A MAN was caught by two separate decoy groups attempting to encourage people he thought were teenage girls to take part in sexual activity.

Groups called Fleetwood Enforcers UK and Justice For The Tears set up fake profiles on a dating website called Waplog and both were messaged by Martin Miller.

Swansea Crown Court was told how Miller engaged with a decoy, run by the Fleetwood group, who purported to be a 13-year-old girl.

A picture was used on the fictional girl’s profile, given with consent by a member of the public.

Miller was told the girl was 13 and from the Chesterfield

area and the conversation built up a rapport before steering towards a sexual nature.

The 42-year-old began asking her to perform acts of a sexual nature and asked her what she was wearing, telling her the next day in another conversation that if she was older he would want to have sexual intercourse with her.

In his conversation with the second decoy, the court heard how Miller sent a picture of a couple kissing and said he would “kiss her like that”.

Further conversations saw him send extreme sexually explicit messages.

He also told her: “I really like you and I want you as a gf (girlfriend)” and sent a sexually explicit image. Police were notified of Miller’s actions and he was arrested. He told officers: “I have done it. I am so f ****** stupid.”

A search was carried out at his home in Brynhafod, Tycroes, Ammanford, and police recovered a black Motorola mobile phone and a Samsung tablet.

He was interviewed at Ammanford police station and was subsequently charged with the offences.

Miller appeared for sentencing having pleaded guilty to six counts of attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity and a further count of attempting to cause a child to watch a sexual act. The offences took place between June and August 2019.

Mitigating, Nicola Powell said: “He accepts his actions and is thoroughly ashamed of what he did.

“He was drinking heavily and was spending most of his time back in the spare boxroom of his parents’ house.

“In some of the conversations he says he simply cannot remember what was said. It is not an excuse – it just goes to show the state he was in at the time. He isolated himself after the breakdown of a relationship. He is

embarrassed by his actions and his remorse is genuine.”

Miller was jailed for two

years and four months and must sign the sex offenders’ register for 10 years.
