Pupils self-isolating after positive case confirmed

-

A NUMBER of pupils at a secondary school in West Wales are self-isolating after a positive case of coronavirus was confirmed.

Ceredigion Council has confirmed that a pupil at Ysgol Gyfun Aberaeron had tested positive for Covid-19. Everyone who is a contact of the positive case must now remain at home for a period of 10 days, in line with guidance from the Welsh Government.

The pupils who need to self-isolate will be taught remotely at home during their isolation period, and all parents of those students affected have been contacted by staff at the school.

Ceredigion Council has urged parents to refer their children for a test if they develop any Covid19 symptoms, including a high temperature, a new continuous cough, or a loss or change to sense of smell or taste.

The council is also reminding parents to be aware of other symptoms such as headaches, tiredness and general aches and pains usually associated with the flu.

A spokeswoman for the council said: “Although the level of cases is low, coronavirus has not gone away. Please follow the guidelines – keep a twometre social distance from each other when out and about both indoors and outdoors, wash your hands regularly, wear a face mask in indoor public places, shops and on public transport.”

Anyone who needs a coronavirus test can apply online by calling 119.
