Is now the time to invest in your own outdoor bar?

IT’S been a long wait for a pint of your favourite drink at a pub, with many flocking back to beer gardens for the first time in months over the past week.

But with hospitality still not fully open across the country for at least another few weeks, perhaps now is the perfect time to invest in your very own outdoor bar. And you can if you fancy a change of lifestyle and a move to the delicious Carmarthenshire countryside – and if you have around £1.5m going spare.

A property has just come on the market nine miles outside Carmarthen which really does have the wow factor.

Set just outside the village of Llanarthne, this country house boasts five bedrooms and four bathrooms. It’s also located in an elevated position which gives it unique and stunning views of the Towy Valley and the countryside which surrounds it.

The house, called Tycanol, was built at the turn of the 20th Century for Lady Cawdor as part of her divorce settlement in 1905 and its precise location was chosen to face directly westward to face the sunset. She also didn’t want any windows at the rear of the property because she didn’t want to look across at the Golden Grove area where her exhusband lived.

In recent years the house has undergone substantial refurbishment and extension to create the family home seen today, complete with sprawling grounds and its own indoor swimming pool.

Entry into the house is via an entrance porch and reception hall which leads to a sitting room with a fireplace, which in turn leads to a large lounge with another fireplace, a dining room which would impress an array of even the most fussy of dinner guests, and a media room.

The rest of the ground floor includes a games room, a huge kitchen with patio doors, several windows, and a glass roof inviting in sunlight from across the valley. There’s also a utility room and a cloakroom.

Upstairs at Tycanol you will find five bedrooms, a large bathroom with a Jacuzzi corner bath, two en suite shower rooms, an inner lobby and a dressing area.

Despite the impressive interior throughout it’s the master bedroom that really makes its mark with incredible views made possible by huge windows which separate the bed from the garden, the Towy Valley, and the endless hills beyond it making it the perfect place to wake up every morning.

Outside the property a sweeping drive leads down the side of the house and takes you to the pool room, which contains your very own indoor swimming pool. If that’s not enough there’s a sauna thrown in for good measure too.

For those wanting to cool off after a nice steam session, you won’t even have to take a short trip to the local village pub. You could in fact enjoy a pint in your very own bar which is located at the back of the pool house, complete with a decked patio and bench area, providing yet another chance to enjoy those views.

With properties in rural settings becoming more and more popular since the outbreak of coronavirus thanks to more and more people being allowed to work from home, properties like Tycanol, set in such enviable surroundings, are not likely to be up for grabs for very long. Tycanol is on the market with BJP Residential, based in the nearby town of Llandeilo.

The asking price is £1,550,000, so if you fancy a change of pace, and have some spare cash lying around, the Carmarthenshire hills could be the place for you.
