Spooky abandoned home is up for sale
THE owners of a mysterious house that left them fleeing Wales have put the property up for sale.
Married couple Alan and Christine Tait had always wanted to retire in Wales and when a fire damaged property in Ammanford came up in 2007, they knew it had potential.
They planned to renovate the building and turn it into a four-bedroom B&B, while they lived in a flat together on site.
But for the past three years, the couple have refused to step one foot in their dream home because of the peculiar noises they said were coming from beneath the basement.
Instead, the Taits have been touring the UK in a van trying to raise awareness of the sinister activities they believe are happening underground – that men, women and children are living, sleeping and working underneath the house.
But now, they are putting the house up for sale as it is finally time for them to move on with their lives.

said their terrifying ordeal all started in June 2018 when Mrs Tait made a coffee late one night and was convinced she could hear peculiar noises.
Women and children screaming, heavy knocking and men talking in a foreign language were just some of the sounds that disturbed the pair and led them to believe something bad was going on underneath their basement. Within weeks, they left their home of 11 years and vowed never to return.
Eager to find out more, Mr Tait dug into the walls and placed recording equipment inside them. In his own words, the sounds he picked up included “a woman screaming, sexual sounds, dogs barking, a printing
press running, a motorbike, a car horn honking and what sounds like a police siren”.
Mr Tait said that despite their efforts to uncover what they believed and start the retirement of their dreams, it was no longer a viable option for them.
He said: “After spending nearly three years living in a van and travelling around the UK in an effort to get these matters investigated, we feel our efforts were in vain and it is time for us to move on.
“We have decided to sell the property as we now realise our dream of retiring to Wales is no longer viable, we are both in our sixties. Our decision has not been taken lightly as it is our belief that the noises that were recorded were of people in distress and suffering
“Over the past three years we have done everything we can think of to get a full investigation into the matters we have raised, but the police seem uninterested.”
The house, located on College Street, is going up for auction with Seel&co on May 18 at 4pm. It has a guide price of £79,000 and above.
The property is described as leading out of the town centre of Ammanford and within easy reach of the local shops and amenities including the bus station just opposite.
On the ground floor there is a small lobby, reception room and kitchen or breakfast room. Upstairs there are five rooms plus a large double reception room, bathroom, further small room - intended to be used as a further bathroom - plus a store room.
There is also a loft area that can be accessed with a ladder.
According to Seel&co, the building has previously had planning consent for six bedsits and also as a guest house - the space could be suitable for a variety of uses.
