Free prescripti­on delivery Were you aware that you can have your medication prescripti­ons delivered free of charge to your door by Garnant Pharmacy? The free prescripti­on collection and delivery service, and automatic repeat script ordering service, is available to anyone in the community, from Cwmgors to GCG, Tai’rgwaith to Brynaman, Garnant, Glanaman and Ammanford area, whichever medical practice you belong to. Try the meals menu Would you like to trial Cwmamman’s Meals on Wheels? New clients are welcome and anyone over aged 55 can order a meal; they are £5.50. Any OAPS, families or individual­s who formerly received Meals on Wheels, and may be unable to get about who would possibly need meals delivered, please get in touch, so that nobody goes without through the next few difficult months. Contact Cllr K Madge on 825438 if you require help or other details. Residents in Garnant, Glanaman, GCG, Tai’rgwaith, Brynaman and Cwmgors will be able to carry on using this important service through the next months. Library order and collect Gwauncae-gurwen Library will continue to order and collect; however, on days when it is dry/sunny, we will have a table of second hand/preloved books outside, available at 20p each (for sanitized and masked customers, please), gradually starting to move forwards. Library activities Activities continue at Gwaun-cae-gurwen Library (Y Lolfa), this and every week. Events include the virtual book club and Caffi Cymraeg (virtual) for Welsh learners on Tuesday mornings, with Fun with French being held on Thursday evenings online. Zoom baby courses Garnant Family Centre reminds you that online baby massage courses are being held every Wednesday from 10am to 10.40am, for five weeks between April 28 and May 26. These will be followed by Bumps to Babies from 11am to 11.40am. You are welcome to join both Zoom sessions, or just one of them. Sports day Ysgol Gymraeg Gwaun-caegurwen’s annual school sports day will this year be on Friday, May 28 (pupils only). There then follows the half-term break, starting on May 29, until June 4. Community cafe Canolfan Maerdy’s Community Cafe at New Road, Tai’rgwaith, now has outdoor seating. It is open between 9.30am and 2.30pm (Monday to Friday) and 9am to 2pm on Saturdays.

Birthday news Gwaun cae Gurwen OAP branch chairman Morlais Pugh, of Barry Road, is wished well on his 86th birthday, which Morlais celebrates tomorrow; penblwydd hapus.

Head’s award Well done to Cody Wanner on being given the certificat­e for the Headteache­r’s Award at Ysgol Gwaun cae Gurwen last week.

Marking Earth Day Pupils from Cantre’r Gwaelod and Owain Glyndwr classes at Ysgol Gwaun cae Gurwen have been carrying out a community litter pick to coincide with Earth Day and filled a very large amount of black bags in the process. Well done.

New post Mr Evans will be leaving his post as headteache­r of Ysgol Gymraeg Gwaun cae Gurwen at the end of the current academic year. Mr Evans has been successful in gaining a new headship in a neighbouri­ng town. He is so grateful to everyone for their tremendous support over the years as he looks forward to his new challenge. It is expected a new head will be appointed in readiness for September 2021’s new term.
