OPTIONS are being explored to improve safety at the roundabout in Cross Hands and the A48 to Carmarthen. Here are some of your views:

ANDY SPOKES Yeah, that’ll be good, lights on the roundabout. I seem to remember years ago before the bypass was built sitting for hours in the summer trying to get through the lights on the old road through Cross Hands, there’s nothing wrong with the roundabout if idiot drivers would get into the correct lane on approach, which is hardly rocket science since the lanes are clearly marked, then there wouldn’t be half as many accidents.

JESSICA SARAH STEVENS This road has been worked on for the past 10 years. Every year they’re doing something on it... if it’s not safety then what have they actually been working on all this time? SHIRLEY WILLIAMS It’s not the road’s fault. It’s how people drive. Between St Clears and Carmarthen is also an accident blackspot. JAMILLA DIN It is mostly drivers, but when they built the road the council did not put in slip roads, even though they were asked for by locals. This road has got busier and busier over the years. Turning off to get home was a nightmare even when you indicated early and slowed really slowly, the turning in was a sharp left to get off. I had a number of people nearly run into me. I witnessed the aftermath of the crash that killed the elderly couple in 2014 and have seen so many minor and serious accidents. Something needs to be done. Either adding slip roads or reducing the speed limit.

PETER STANLEY Tiredness and tailbacks probably the culprits. Still can’t believe the Carmarthen roundabouts have not been sorted out to avoid delays in both directions, each end of the bridge. Also the fact that Wales is so popular for holidays and weekend breaks.

CHRIS JONES Traffic lights on Cross Hands roundabout is a must as both roundabouts either side (Carms and Pont Abs) warranted the need for one, but they rejected Cross Hands? If turn-offs are to remain then they need a slip road. Not having a slip road for the recycling centre, considering how frequently it is used, is really dangerous. Average speed cameras will not solve the problem, it’s just a money maker at the taxpayers’ expense.

CARMARTHEN man John Jones has published his first children’s book, Pigs and Pogs Go Home, about the importance of recycling. You said . . .

MICHELLE LOUISE That’s amazing, well done John. WENDY WILLIAMS We are all super proud of you pal.

THELMA JONES Fantastic.

ANTHONY SMITH Nice one John.
