Darts triumph Pontyberem’s Johnny Clayton, affectionately dubbed ‘The Ferret’, reached a new high by winning the prestigious darts Premier League. Included with the handsome trophy is prize money of £250,000. His keen skills at the dartboard in front of a huge audience and international TV coverage were amply displayed as he won the final leg in bravura fashion by eight rounds to one. Across the village there has been great delight and pride in Johnny’s latest striking achievement. All Pontyberem congratulates him on his world-winning skills and acumen.

Council meeting Tomorrow from 7pm Pontyberem community councillors are scheduled to conduct their monthly meeting. Items under consideration include local planning applications, environmental group activities, recreation park updates and other local issues.

Youth club priority County councillors Liam Morgan-bowen at the last community council meeting reiterated his commitment to create and launch a youth club for Pontyberem teenagers. Certainly the lack of such a facility for many years has been a keenly felt absence from providing a more inclusive and vibrant set of village activities for local youngsters.
