Coronavirus warning after visiting pub

- ROB HARRIES Reporter robert.harries@walesonline.co.uk

PEOPLE are being warned to be wary of coronavirus symptoms after a person confirmed to have the virus visited a pub four times in five days.

Neath Port Talbot Council has confirmed that its Test, Trace and Protect service has shown that the affected person visited the Queen of Hearts pub last Thursday, Friday, Sunday and Monday.

As such, people who visited the pub in the village of Cwmgors, near Ammanford, on those days are being asked to be mindful of any Covid-19 symptoms they may have. The council said if anyone who visited the pub suspects that they have any of the typical symptoms - loss of smell or taste, a new and continuous cough and/or a high temperature should arrange to get tested.

A spokeswoman for Neath Port Talbot Council said: “Our Test, Trace, Protect (TTP) service wants people to be aware a person confirmed to have had Covid-19 visited the Queen of Hearts Public House, Cwmgors, Ammanford, SA18 1PT on June 10, 11, 13 and 14.

“Anyone with coronavirus symptoms (however mild) must remain at home both before and after having a test until such time as they have received a negative test result. Their household members must also stay at home in a similar manner as doing this will help prevent the spread of the virus to family, friends, colleagues and the wider community and will also help protect the NHS.”

People can now get a free Covid-19 test if they have a wide range of symptoms which are outlined below:

Flu-like symptoms including any or all of: myalgia (muscle ache or pain); excessive tiredness; persistent headache; runny nose or blocked nose; persistent sneezing; sore throat and/or hoarseness, shortness of breath or wheezing;

Generally feeling unwell and a history of being in contact with a known Covid-19 case;

Any new or change in symptoms following a previous negative test;

Any symptom which is new, persistent and/or unusual for them.

The council spokeswoman added: “If you take a test because of these other wider symptoms you are not required to isolate while waiting for your result. This includes children and school pupils who can continue to attend schools and childcare settings while they await a test result.

“However, children and adults with diarrhoea and or vomiting should remain off work or school and not attend childcare settings until they are symptom free for 48 hours even if their Covid19 test is negative.

“If you get a positive Covid-19 result, you and your household must then isolate. Households must also isolate if anyone develops any of the three classic Covid-19 symptoms while waiting for a test result taken on wider symptoms to come back.”
