25 Cwmamman Road, Ammanford. byronevans­1@hotmail.com Bereavemen­t It was so sad to hear news of the recent passing away of a well-known,much liked and respected gent, John Read, of Cwmamman Road, Garnant. John (John y Post), alongside his late wife Gillian, were the popular postmaster­s at Garnant Post Office for many years. John, originally a Swansea boy, died peacefully on June 4 at Parcwern Care Home, Penybanc, where he had just recently moved. He is survived by his daughters Sarah and Janet; John was also a respected father-in-law of Neil and Alun, a devoted and proud grandfathe­r of Mathew, Catrin, Sophia, Victoria and Kory, and also a dear cousin of Ann and the late Howard. Sympathy is expressed all the family on their sad loss. The funeral was on June 18.

Cwmamman Senior Citizens will be meeting as usual at the Community Centre,glanamman tomorrow at 2pm; new members are warmly welcomed; croeso cynnes i bawb.

School’s sports club Ysgol y Bedol’s sports club is open on Mondays and Wednesdays (years 1 and 2) and Thursdays/fridays (years 3,4,5 and 6); please book a space, and there is no current cap on numbers at the moment.

Free nature notebooks Llyfrgell Bach/ Cwmaman Little Library have something for the summer,some free notebooks for nature journallin­g available in the little library. If you are looking for a project or want to learn more about your local wildlife, nature journallin­g is a great way to do this, and is also a good mindfulnes­s activity. Come and pick one up and maybe a book or two while you are there!
