MATT BAGS DOUBLE IN DERBY SUCCESS

EVANS & Williams moved up to second in the West Wales Premier League thanks to a 5-1 win at CK Swiss Valley.

Matthew Williams scored twice, with Mark Howells also on target along with Bruno Forkuoh. They also benefited from an own goal.

A goal from Liam Thomas wasn’t enough for Dafen, who suffered a third defeat when going down 2-1 at Cwm Wanderers in the West Wales Premier League.

The home team claimed their first win thanks to goals by Oliver Raynford and Ryan Probert.

It leaves Dafen ninth in the table, one spot above Pontarddul­ais Town, who lost 1-0 at home to Mumbles Rangers.

Chris Allen scored the only goal for the visitors.

After the disappoint­ment of losing at home to Killay in their first league game of the season, Gorseinon Athletic bounced back with a hardfought 2-1 win at home to neighbours Pengelli United in the Premier division of the LTC Mobility Carmarthen­shire League.

Goals from Ashley Thomas and Aaron Bushrod secured the points for the hosts.

And Gorseinon followed up by coming from behind to share a 2-2 draw at Bwlch Rangers.

Trailing 2-0 to goals from Michael Hughes and Jordan Follows at halftime, Gorseinon hit back through John Dixon and Ashley Thomas.

Killay suffered their second consecutiv­e loss when edged out 2-1 at home by Burry Port. Lewis James (penalty) and Tane Davies scored for Port.

Division one leaders Felinfoel made it six wins from seven and retained their unbeaten record in a 10-2 victory at Johnstown. Chris James and Jordan Badman scored five goals each.

The home side never gave up, and were rewarded with goals from Morgan Pockett and Jack Starkey.

Two Nortons took the field for Llandeilo in the clash at Kidwelly Town. Father Gareth was joined in the starting line-up by his son Alfie.

And to cap a memorable occasion, Alfie scored on his debut in the 1-1 draw.

There were maximum points for Camford Sports, who gained a deserved 3-1 win at Abergwili. A couple of goals by Jack Roberts, plus one from Jac Griffiths, helped the visitors over the line.

Chris Hyde’s hat-trick helped Llandovery Town to a convincing 8-2 win at home to Bancffosfe­len.

Four of the goals were shared equally between Tom Hyde and Ryan Bailey, and there was one for Fen Wilson.

In midweek, FC Carmarthen made the best possible start when taking the lead inside two minutes through Nick Rees against visiting Pwll Athletic.

But for the rest of the half it was tough going for the home team, and it wasn’t until the 53rd minute that they doubled their tally thanks to Gavin Rees. A second from Nick Rees three minutes later, plus another from Liam Price in the 86th minute, secured a 4-1 win for FC Carmarthen.

FC Carmarthen then won 3-1 at Drefach. Liam Price, Osian Thomas and Sion Howells were on target, with Kieran Waters on target for the Gwendraeth Valley side.

Pwll Athletic came from behind to beat Tumble United 2-1 thanks to goals from Darren Bennett and Ian Williams.

Striker Ben Edwards starred with a hat-trick as Ammanford Town A produced their best performanc­e of the season when defeating battling Carmarthen United 5-1 at Richmond Park in division two.

Lewis Perkins and Taylor Harries added further goals.

But three days later Ammanford Town A were beaten 1-0 at home by neighbours Caerbryn.

Just when it looked as if the game was heading for a goalless draw, up popped Cameron Evans to bang home the winner for Caerbryn in the 87th minute.

Evans & Williams Reserves beat Carmarthen United 3-1. Nathan Jones, Frazer Williams and Alex Harries scored the goals.

It was tight at Hendy, where striker Frazer Williams with a hat-trick proved the difference between the teams when earning Evans & Williams Reserves a nail-biting 3-2 win.

Dafen Reserves have started the season well, and kept their unbeaten record intact with a comfortabl­e 5-1 win at Caerbryn Reserves.

Kieran Brown with a hat-trick proved more than a handful for the home defence, and there were goals from Alex Goddard and Kyle Bessent.

Going great guns at the top of reserve division one are Loughor Rovers, for whom Luke Goddard, Matthew Protheroe and Dylan Goddard scored in the 3-0 win at Pengelli United.

There were hat-tricks for Pengelli Reserves striker Niall Harrington and Drefach Reserves ace Obi Anyadike as the teams shared the points in a 4-4 draw.

Anyadike gave visiting Drefach an early boost when netting in the fifth minute, while Trystan Bateman scored in the 21st minute. Scott Barlow

replied for the home team.

Striker Anyadike struck with another hat-trick four days later, helping Drefach Reserves defeat visiting Burry Port Reserves 8-2.

There was also a hat-trick for Chris Gregory, and a brace for the promising Drew Hawkins.

In the battle between first and second in reserve division two, it finished 2-2 between leaders Llangennec­h and visiting Camford Sports.

Goals from Liam Fry in the 29th minute and Nathan Mcauley in the 79th minute for Llangennec­h were cancelled out by Daniel Brown and Josh Finan.

Alfie Evans and Jack Kluge scored two goals each for Johnstown Reserves in the 7-1 win at Felinfoel Reserves. Others to get their names on the scoresheet were Gary Evans, Kian Davies and Jonathan Pockett.

Striker Sam Thomas’s hat-trick helped Pontarddul­ais Town A to a thrilling 5-4 win at home to Tumble United Reserves. Also on target for the hosts were Conor Marshall and Dafydd Davies.

Even at this early stage of the season, red-hot favourites have emerged to capture the title in reserve division three. Bwlch Rangers’ 7-1 win at Caerbryn made it a maximum return

from the first eight games.

Shane Price led the charge with two goals, the others being shared between Jason Morris, Ceiron Francis, Mikey John, Elis Richards and Nathan Ford.

It was one-way traffic at Llangennec­h, a hat-trick from David Lewis helping their A team defeat Pontarddul­ais Town B 9-0.

Lewis broke the deadlock in the sixth minute, and it was 3-0 at halftime. Adam Evans scored two and there were also goals from Rhys Howells, James Beckett, Harri Baker and Neil Bryant.

Llangennec­h followed up three days later with another eye-catching 6-1 win at Burry Port A.

After opening their account through Mike O’mara in the 20th minute, Lewis Davies scored a second before the break. In the second half, the home team drew clear with four more goals thanks to Jamie Davies, Rhydian Soady-jackson, James Henderson and Tom Pulling.

It was also comfortabl­e for FC Carmarthen Reserves, who made ground advantage count in a 4-0 win against Pwll Reserves.

A couple of goals from Jon Fleming, plus one each from Joe Pulman and Jack Tompsett, did the job.
