The goals fly in on entertaining weekend in Premier League
FIVE highly entertaining games took place in the West Wales Premier League last weekend with a record 30 goals being scored.
At the 13th attempt, Llanelli side CK Swiss Valley finally registered their first league win of the season when they sent mid-table Giants Grave packing 4-2, just their third loss in their last nine league games.
Ben Grant, now with five league goals, gave Swiss Valley an early lead after a defensive error. Then on 26 minutes they doubled their lead through Dan Lemon when he timed his run into the penalty area to perfection to reach a cross from youth team player Morgan Edwards.
It was soon 3-0 to CKSV when Ross Buckley-turner netted from the spot.
Ben Wayman grabbed two quick goals for Grave before half-time and home keeper Liam Davey kept the visitors at bay.
And on 78 minutes the ball was pulled back to Lemon, who slotted home the decisive fourth.
CKSV: L Davey, T Morgans, K Davies (capt), D Thomas, R Buckleyturner, T Caul, D Lemon, O Hopping, R Akhtar, B Grant, M Edwards. Subs: G Lavender, P Harry, C Phillips.
Back in September league leaders Penlan Club thrashed a then depleted Pontarddulais Town 10-1 at Mynydd Newydd, and they met again at Coedbach Park last Saturday.
Penlan looked to be heading for a shock defeat as they trailed an inspired Bont 1-0 at half-time after a goal by early substitute Ethan Stocks, a replacement for Bont’s injured top scorer Cameron Davies.
The second half was a different story, however. Penlan equalised on the hour through Nathan Lewis, his 10th of the season, and went on to take the three points with a late goal from winger Luke Dalling, his first in the league, when he capitalised on a defensive error.
Cwm Wanderers took on secondplaced Evans & Williams and, despite an encouraging opening, were well beaten 4-0, not helped by some individual errors.
Mathew Williams got the Albies’ first after a mistake from the Cwm keeper and Williams then set up Chad Tinnuche to make it 2-0 at halftime.
Tom Lavender ended Cwm’s hopes with a 25-yarder, while Mark Howells got Albies’ fourth and his 12th of the season, a tap-in with 20 minutes left.
A miserable day for Cwm was complete when Ben Jones was shown a late red card.
