Sports meeting report At the February meeting several issues were discussed, with the maintenance of the MUGA high on the list. The moss is a concern and opinions as to the best way to deal with it are to be sought. The proposal for the upgrading of the pitches was deferred to the February meeting. Rhian Williams, treasurer, explained that HSBC now charges £5 per month plus additional fees for paying in cash and cheques. Internet banking remains free of charge. Following the damaging autumn storm which caused the floodlights to malfunction, we were again fortunate to have the prompt service of Darren Sainty to repair the damage. Membership numbers for the fitness suite continue to increase and this led to a discussion on age limits for users. Ashley Watson explained the county council guidelines for fitness centres and before a decision is made advice from our insurance broker will be requested. Grant opportunities were discussed, with individual clubs encouraged to apply to the community council for a specific purpose. Trustees agreed to support the community council in its campaign to reduce usage of single-use plastic. In conclusion, company secretary Richard Meade clarified the venue for the proposed Welsh street foods event in June/july will be held on the beach football pitch and not the Morfa. The next meeting is on Monday, February 28.

St Clears

St Clears WI On Tuesday, February 1 at 2pm in St Clears Boat Club, St Clears WI held their monthly meeting. Maureen Davies, a WI advisor and talented crafter, instructed the members on how to make a macrame bracelet. All members were then tasked with making their bracelet. What an enjoyable time the members had attempting to push the thread in various directions to make their bracelets (mostly the wrong way)! Not only did the members learn a new craft and have lots of laughs, but they also had a very pretty bracelet of their own. Thank you, Maureen. St Clears WI will be celebrating their centenary in September and they plan to put on a variety of events, so watch this space!
