Cwm claim crucial win

-

CWMAMMAN United put in another strong performance under the lights when they gained another critical three points by beating West End 4-1 at Llandarcy.

This Ardal League South West encounter started in bizarre fashion with a yellow card and an injury to Ryan Thomas in the first four seconds when Charlie Davies took the Cwm manager late as he advanced with the ball from the centre spot.

Thomas recovered but it set the scene for a physical encounter with both sides near the wrong end of the table and desperate for points.

Cwmamman were quick to settle and created a number of chances in the first five minutes.

Almost inevitably the opening goal came quickly when Kyle Ashford’s cross fell to Cwm top scorer Calem Rees, who put it away.

West End slowly began to get back into the game but Cwm keeper Kai Rees was rarely troubled, with the back four of Travis James, Gareth Howarth, Luke Sherbon and Nathan Davies holding firm.

Both Ashford and Cam Isaac went close for Cwm, who held a one-goal advantage at the interval.

But the Swansea side levelled just after the restart when Nicky Parvin fired home.

But in the 62nd minute Cwmamman restored their lead when the unmarked Ashford slotted home after a break by Calem Rees.

Cwm now had the momentum and moments later a disastrous back pass saw Rees race away to push it past the advancing keeper to make it 3-1.

West End’s Kallum Owen then saw red for two bookable offences and Cwm wrapped up the points late on when Ryan Hurlow created a chance for Isaac, who calmly turned and shot past the advancing keeper.

Cwm are 12th in the table ahead of Saturday’s home game at Grenig Park against Caerau Ely (2pm).
