RNIB charity stamps Many thanks to everyone who has donated stamps for charity to Gwaun cae Gurwen Library, which is still collecting used postage stamps to raise money for the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB). Just trim around your stamps, leaving a 1cm border, and bring them into Y Lolfa during opening times.

As well as English and Welsh book clubs (children and adult), and Welsh and French learners.
Sunday afternoon gigs Cwmgors Rugby Club welcomes local band The Boffs to entertain on Sunday; entry is free.
Residential course Ysgol Gwaun cae Gurwen is again offering the children educational experiences via a two-night residential visit to Llangrannog this summer, between June 8 and 10, with various outdoor pursuits and activities to enjoy for the Year 4 pupils. The cost will be between £160 and £180 (depending on price of the bus) and a deposit of £60 is required by March 18 so numbers can be confirmed.
Cwmgors Families Together Group (Plant Dewi) offers free activities for all the family; the language and play sessions, family craft activities, cuppa and a chat, baby massage, etc is held every Monday morning at Cwmgors Community Centre. Half-term events at the library Gwaun cae Gurwen Library (Y Lolfa) at Gwaun cae Gurwen Hall, New Road, will be offering half-term events for local children. Today there is a History Detectives Mini Dig and Bronze Age pottery craft session (free) between 10.30am and 12.30pm (8 and over) and tomorrow(10.30am-12.30), Weaving Craft with Elli (5-plus). Booking is essential, ask the library staff or contact 01269 825904 to book your place.
St David’s Day raffle Ysgol y Waun’s St David’s Day raffle will be drawn on March 1; tickets are now available at £1 per strip.
Bereavement Mr William Kenneth (“Ken”) Salt, of Heol y Gors, Cwmgors, sadly passed away, peacefully on January 25 at Cwrt Enfys Care Home, Ystradgynlais. Ken was the loving husband of the late Ann, a much-loved father of Allyson, Nina and the late Stephen, and was a dear grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. Our deepest condolences to all the family on their sad loss. The funeral was on February 16 at Llanelli Crematorium.
Deepest sympathy is expressed to Mr Gerwyn Davies, Lauderdale Road, Tairgwaith, and all the family following the sad passing away of his brother Eirian, of Betws, at the age of 78. Wedding anniversary Belated best wishes to local couple David and Virginia Williams, who have just celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary. Clwb Coginio/cooking Club Do you at Ysgol Gwaun cae Gurwen want to learn how to cook? Each half-term there will be an opportunity for your child to attend our Clwb Goginio/cooking Club at the school. Therefore, by the end of the year, each class will have had the chance to attend. The club will change every five weeks and will be held every Thursday from 3.20pm to 4.15pm; years 5 and 6 will have the chance in the autumn term, years 3/4 spring term and years 1/2 the summer term. With only room for 10 it will be first come, first served, for a one-off payment of £10 the opening session on Thursday, March 3.
Accident Unfortunately, there was an accident outside GCG School on the morning of Monday, February 14, when a van reversed onto the road towards the pavement and a parent was knocked down as a result. Luckily, the victim was okay and suffered no significant injuries.
Tairgwaith Senior Citizens The branch returned for their opening meeting of 2022 on February 14 at the hall, it was nice for everyone to meet up once again, especially following the recent Covid restrictions. The annual report was read out to members on the night. The next meeting will be held at the Community hall, Tairgwaith on Monday from 6pm to 8pm, when members will help Mr Norman Cooper celebrate his birthday!
