WANDERERS CLAIM A CRUCIAL VICTORY

-

LLANELLI Wanderers climbed three places to eighth in the Admiral One West table thanks to a 15-3 home win over Crymych on Saturday.

Tries by Ellis Evans and Ben Chiffi gave the home side the advantage in difficult conditions.

It was one of only two games played in the division at the weekend, with Penclawdd defeating Pembroke 24-7 in the other.

Despite a try from Pembroke’s Lewys Gibby in the first half, Penclawdd ended with a comfortable 17-point win after two tries from Marcus Brown, one from prop Liam Davey and a bonus-point score from replacement prop Josh Lynn.

The game between Whitland and Felinfoel was called off.

Llangennech still lead the way with five wins from five. They are two points clear of Newcastle Emlyn, who are also unbeaten.

Storm Eunice played havoc with fixtures all across Wales. But it didn’t stop the game between Tregaron and Llanybydder going ahead in Three West A.

Llanybydder launched a comeback in the second half with Liam Fitzpatrick scoring a try and Tomos Wilson claiming the final try in the last minute of the game.

He also kicked the conversion to make the score 22-22.

This was one of the busier divisions for action, with three of the four games taking place. Cardigan won 12-6 at Llangwm, but the Neyland-st Davids clash was abandoned after 57 minutes with the visitors leading 125.

The only match to take place in Two West saw Nantgaredig defeat Tenby United 21-12. The win pushed Nant five points clear of Burry Port at the top of the table, though Port have three games in hand.

Will Swales and Ethan Morgan scored tries for Tenby, with Lloyd Thomas adding a conversion.

Dunvant ensured Sam Gallagher enjoyed his 100th appearance for the club as they pipped visiting Birchgrove 28-24 in One West Central.

Tries from Rhys Barrow and Rhys Tucker gave the home side a boost and they also had a penalty try. Joe Gage scored twice for the visitors.

Skewen’s 25-10 home win over lowly Bridgend Athletic enabled them to increase their lead at the top of the West Central table to 10 points.

A hat-trick of tries from Cai Morgan steered the home side to a bonus-point triumph and the lone Bridgend try came from Ben Cordin.
