70th wedding anniversary Our heartiest congratulations to a popular, well-known Waun couple, Ieuan and Ceinwen Jones, of Graig Road, Gwaun cae Gurwen, who celebrated their platinum wedding anniversary on St David’s Day, March 1; llongyfarchiadau a dymuniadau da i’ch dau ar achlysur eich pen-bwlwydd briodas platinwm ar ôl 70 mlynedd o fywyd priodasol.
Techniquest visit Ysgol Gwaun cae Gurwen has organised a trip to Techniquest in Cardiff today as part of their theme work; the classes will see a show about “Wales, STEM and the World”; the bus will leave at 9am, returning at the end of the school day (cost £5); the children will require a packed lunch.
Big Pedal Challenge Meanwhile, the Healthy School committee at GCG School is again taking part in the Big Pedal Challenge this year. The challenge is being supprted across Britain for a fortnight, between Monday, March 21, and Friday, April 1, the purpose being to get as many children as possible to ride their bike or scooter to school each day; pupils will also have the opportunity to practise their skills on a daily basis over the two weeks.
Stamps GCG Library is still collecting used postage stamps to raise money for the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB). Just trim around your stamps, leaving a 1cm border,and bring them into Y Lolfa during opening times.
