To the max! Dan creates history with brilliant 147

-

THERE was a landmark moment in the Llanelli Snooker League when Dan Wells cleared the table with a memorable maximum 147 in his frame win in the Division One Olympic Cup final between Matchroom Whites and Matchroom Reds, which was won by the Whites.

In the league, meanwhile, Whites came back down to earth with a 5-2 defeat in a rearranged fixture at Pontarddulais Workmen’s, for whom K. Sullivan (29), Keri Davies, Adam Griffiths and C. Griffiths struck. Dai Keenan and D. Roberts (38 & 40) hit back for Whites.

Ponthenri Social earned a fine 5-2 victory at Snooker World thanks to wins from Nigel Lewis, Mark Regola, Dylan James and Stephen Rees. The Ammanford side nicked the aggregate, though, largely due to Anthony Krysa’s excellent 81 clearance, added to Andrew Whitfield’s frame win.

Frank Ellis, Richard Evans, Jay Davies and Joel Bullen gave Matchroom Reds another win, 5-2 at Morfa, whose points were from Greg Davies and Barry Follows.

Neil Roberts won for Burry Port Reading Room Blues as they lost 4-3 to a man-short Upper Tumble Blues, whose winners were Shaun Lewis, Joe Evans, Nicki Walters and John Shields.

Garnet Lane and Rich Nurse struck for Burry Port Legion, beaten 5-2 by an ultra-busy Matchroom Whites, for whom Leighton Davies, Chris Davies, Tyler Rees (41 break) and Ashley Edwards won, Edwards making a super 50 clearance break in the process.

Pontarddulais Workmen’s were 4-3 aggregate winners at Pontyberem courtesy of Steve Dunn, Kevin Sullivan and Mike Footman. Kieran Evans, Alun Harris and Paul Rees replied.

In Division two, Upper Tumble Reds, for whom Mike Sainty, Steve Marshall and Kevin Evans were on the ball, defeated Bryn & Trallwm B 4-3. Kurtis Myhill, Jason Frater and Aaron Cruickshank hit back for Bryn.

Callum Fuge and Jac Evans were on top for Snooker World Blues (Chris Waters 24 break), who lost 5-2 to the Gremlin Club, whose winning quartet were Ryan Burt (43 break), Ray Barney (36), Gavin Stollery and Kevin Gronow.

Cross Hands A were 5-2 winners against Tycroes Rugby Club courtesy of Dai Bunford, Gerald Evans, Elwyn Williams and Scott Bundfuss. Paul Garritty and Marc Walters replied.

Llandybie RFC’S winners in a 5-2 loss to Reading Room Reds were Sion Isaac and Callum Isaac. Steve Gower, Phil Payne, Tony Rawlings and John Dean won for the Burry Port men.

Bryn A defeated Llandybie Social B 4-3 thanks to Clive Richards, Connor Sharples and Corry Jenkins. For the visitors, Lyndsay Pugh, Huw Morgan and Brian Jenn struck.

The team knockout cup has reached the semi-final stage. On April 12, Morfa Social and Trimsaran were due to play each other last night at the Matchroom, while on Friday, April 22, the Gremlin Club and Matchroom Whites will face each other in the second semi-final at Cross Hands Club (7.30pm).
