Baker holds his nerve to take home inaugural trophy

-

A SUCCESSFUL end-of-season Finals Night was held at the Gremlin Club for the Carmarthen and District Men’s Winter Darts League.

Throwing first were the semifinalists in the Don Williamson Memorial Singles. Mikey Rees overcame former winner Chris Jenkins 3-1, while Richard Jupp got past team-mate Dorian Bowen by the same scoreline.

Next up was the Captain’s Cup final. The Coracle A duo of Wayne Rees and Richard Jupp proved too strong for the Fountain Inn pairing of JJ Morgan and Dyfrig Mason, prevailing 3-0.

Next was the inaugural final of the Adrian Davies Double-in, Double-out Cup. In the final were Dan Baker and Mike Sizer.

The game was closely contested with both players on top form. A nervy deciding leg was claimed by Baker as he edged a 4-3 win.

The PM pairs final was another quality match, with the greater experience of Wayne Rees and Richard Jupp guiding them to a hard-fought 4-1 success over Andrew Major and Mikey Rees.

Last match on was the final of the Don Williamson Singles. A classic final ebbed and flowed and could have gone either way, but in the end Jupp hit the high scores when needed and came from behind to pip Rees 4-3.
