Welcome return for popular show
AFTER a two-year absence due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Trap Agricultural Show has made a welcome return.
The show field at Cilmaenllwyd, Trap, near Llandeilo, has Carreg Cennen Castle and the Black Mountain as its back drop and was the perfect setting for the event, which marked its 54th show this year.
Presidents for the show were Brian and Shirley James, of Broad Oak.
Show secretary Beryl Owen said: “Everyone was so glad that Trap Show was back and absolutely nothing was going to put a damper on that spirit.”
It was a welcome return for horse competition at the show, following a four year gap due to equine flu that led to there being no horses at the 2019 show.
Entries were strong in most horse sections, where the Supreme Champion was Section C mare Rhyd Ddu Nansi, shown by Rhys Davies of Cwmgwili.
Despite entries being not as strong in the sheep category, there was still an excellent standard and best in show was the powerful Texel ram lamb shown by Wyn Thomas of Tycroes.
The vintage agricultural vehicle section was a wonderful spectacle as they paraded around the main rings with commentary from Aled Jones and led by the judge’s choice exhibit a Same Explorer-95 tractor, owned by Arwyn Williams of Gelli.
The pet dog section was hugely popular with 139 entries in nine classes and the crowd around the judging ring was a spectacle in itself.
The domestic and horticulture tent showcased a wide array of talents and organisers praised all exhibitors, ranging from pre-school children to experienced cream of the crop competitors for a spectacularly colourful and inspiring display of their work and produce.
