BOWLS ROUND-UP

-

A NORMAL League programme was held in the Llanelli and District Bowling League, producing varying results for those fighting for titles and those trying to avoid relegation.

Significantly, Ammanford Park produced a big win on their visit to league champions Kidwelly Town, increasing their confidence ahead of their forthcoming National semi-final at Llandrindod Wells.

Kidwelly bounced back on Sunday with a 27-shot victory at home to Llanelli, who themselves had recorded a fine win at home to league leaders Loughor the previous day.

In Coedbach Park, secondplaced Graig Merthyr just managed a two-shot win against Brynhyfryd.

At the Town Hall green Parc y Dre scraped home by the same margin against Burry Port, who are yet to record a victory this year.

In division one, the three top teams – Tybie, Dafen Welfare and Carmarthen – all enjoyed good wins and it is Carmarthen who hold the advantage as they have a number of games in hand over the other two.

At the foot of the table, Ty’rfran and Parc William are both struggling to gain enough points to avoid relegation.

Cwmaman Bowls Club have made a surge up the division two table and with just a few matches left to play this year are hoping to gain one of the two promotion places for the first time in the club’s history.
