By-election to be announced soon

-

THE next steps towards replacing Lampeter’s popular local councillor, whose sudden death shocked the town earlier this year, are under way.

County councillor Hag Harries was returned to his Lampeter seat unopposed in May’s election, but sadly died later that month.

Three times mayor, Cllr Harries, had represented Lampeter on the county council since its inception in 1995, as well as the district and town council, and was also known for his music store in the town, that had been running for many years up until 2016.

However, a new candidate is required to fill the shoes filled by Cllr Harries for the last 25 years, with the county council stating by-election details will be available “shortly.”

A Ceredigion County Council spokesperson said: “Information regarding the Lampeter by-election will be available on the council website shortly.”
