Family raise £27,000 in memory of beloved son

A FAMILY who tragically lost their beloved son after an incident at a farm has raised £27,000 with a number of fundraisin­g events in his memory.

Ianto Jenkins died at Rhosfach, Efailwen, in the Clynderwen area of Pembrokesh­ire, on August 3 last year.

He was playing with his sister and cousin at the farm, when he came into contact with a pick-up vehicle.

His father Guto Jenkins and family have thanked the public for their help and generosity with a tractor and vehicle run, followed by an evening of entertainm­ent held in memory of their son.

In the days following the tragedy, his mother Chloe Picton described Ianto as her “blue-eyed boy, he was inspiratio­n to life, he was a kind little boy who was always smiling and laughing.” All proceeds raised from the fundraisin­g were given to local charities.

A total of 500 vehicles turned up at Parc Gwynfryn, Crymych, for the Yellow Heart Run in memory of Ianto, which finished at Rhosfach where an evening of entertainm­ent and auction took place.

Performing were local artists were Dafydd Pantrod and band, Sioned Llewelyn, Jessica Robinson, Clive Edwards, Crymych RFC choir, Sharon Woolley and the Shepherds, Iwan Ward and Alun Griffiths.

A total of £35,000 was raised and, after costs were taken into account, £27,000 was shared among Wales Air Ambulance Wales which was given £6,500, Crymych First Response received £3,000, Nebo Chapel cemetery had £3,000, Sandy Bears Children’s bereavemen­t charity was handed £3,000, 2 Wish charity was given £3,000, Tir Dewi got £2,500, DPJ Foundation received £2,500, and Cylch Meithrin Hermon was given £1,500.

Cylch Meithrin Crymych was awarded £1,000 and a further £1,000 went towards the upkeep of Efailwen defibrilla­tor.
