PLANT OF THE WEEK

-

AMARANTHUS CAUDATUS –

LOVE-LIES-BLEEDING Amaranthus has dripping tassels of burgundy flowers that entice you to touch them.

This exotic tender annual comes from South America and can be grown from seed indoors in spring and then planted out for display when frost has gone. It likes full sunshine to grow these long red fluffy tails and makes a good cut or dried flower.

Plant in fertile, well-drained soil and keep well watered and fed during the growing season. Pinch out the central stem to encourage branching and even more flower panicles.
