BOWLS ROUND-UP

-

AMMANFORD Park’s run in the National Club Championship came to an abrupt end when they were well beaten by a very experienced Presteigne Bowls Club on the super-fast greens at Llandrindod Wells.

The competition was eventually won by reigning champions RTB Ebbw Vale.

In the Llanelli and District League Premier division, Graig Merthyr visited Kidwelly Town and came away with just four points as the 2021 champions maintained their good form.

Graig now need to beat current leaders Loughor to keep in touch as the season approaches its conclusion.

Brynhyfryd slipped back into the relegation zone after losing at home to Llanelli, while Burry Port’s first experience of the Premier division is rapidly coming to an end following a home defeat at the hands of Havelock Park, leaving them still looking for a first win this year.

Dafen Welfare held off a stern challenge from Carmarthen to go second in division one.

Tybie’s home win against Gowerton kept them at the top, and with games running out it seems likely that Ty’rfran and Parc William will return to division two next year.

This Sunday, Carmarthen County take on the Vale of Glamorgan at Llandrindod Wells in the semi-finals of the National County Championship.

Play starts at 9.30am, and if successful they play the final round the same afternoon.
