Nerys’s trip home proves well worth the effort

-

TAF Running and Orienteering’s Army PTI and ultramarathon specialist Nerys Jones made a visit to her Pembrokeshire home worthwhile with an easy ladies’ victory in Cardigan Running Club’s third fixture of the popular Poppit Sands 5k series.

Despite racing over less than a quarter of her usual distance, the TROTS runner showed her strength in the energy-sapping soft sand and strong headwind in the final kilometre to place 20th overall, just behind club coach Aled Jones-davies in 17th.

Kevin Jenkins won the M60 category for the second time, while Lindy Eynon, despite narrowly losing a hard-fought contest for the F55 win, sealed the overall win over the three races.

Manon Phillips and Maisie Foster placed second and third in the junior girls’ race, with Foster first in the series.
